Kakinada : Maize purchasing centres would be established at Jaggampeta and Gokhavaram in the district soon to encourage minimum support for the maize farmers, said A.Mallikarjuna, Joint Collector. While reviewing the progress of primary sector departments in the district at collectorate, Kakinada on Tuesday, JC said that similar purchasing centres for green gram and Black gram was established at Rangampeta mandal recently through Markfed and directed the officials to identify the necessity of establishing such purchasing centres for the local agricultural products .With regard to agriculture department. He directed the officials to ensure water to the rabi season to the tail end areas and to take steps for distribution of crop loans to the farmers as per the targets . Completion of fish drying platforms though fisheries department was also suggested by the Joint Collector in this meeting. With regard to Bivoltine,raw silk production, through sericulture department , 60.88 tonnes was produced in the district out of the target of 22 tonnes for this year. While reviewing the progress of DRDA-Velugu activities in the district .He directed the PD to ensure protection of plants, taken up in avenue plantation and directed him to take the assistance of local farmers and the NGOs to water the plants during this summer he also suggested the PD to create more awareness among the beneficiaries of the various units through video films on proper utilization O.Anand,Trainee Asst Collector, S.Mallibabu,PD DRDA,and others attended .
